We ate here during lunch. Did not have to wait for a table. We started out with the wings and fried mushrooms and zucchini for the appetizers. They were good only wish the wings could have been spicier. We had Freddie Fender burger(good!), Throw in the kitchen sink burger(really good) l, and the Southwest burger(good!!). We also had the curly fries and onion rings(these were really good). The service was great and had an overall good experience here.
Always a great experience here. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The food is awesome and the atmosphere is a wonderful throwback to the late 70' - 80's.
I was so full. I look forward to a return trip. Prices were good for how much you get.
Excellent comfort food. Old time 50's feel.
We went here for my sister's birthday all dressed up like the 50s and it was super fun to see the aesthetic of the restaurant and the food was great. The staff were super friendly and fast and I would totally recommend this place and go again. Also they have vegan options!
Great atmosphere! Very attentive staff. Great burgers! Take advantage of their 5 dollars Tuesday burgers!
BAD SERVICE. Visited on 6/3/19 4:30pm with no waiting upon arrival. The server who helped us was apathetic and was more interested in telling our group all of the upcharges. She forgot to put in one of the items we ordered and gave a truly apathetic apology. Lastly she abandoned us when a very large group arrived which she attended. Bottom line, 2 servers when busy is not enough for service declines and server poor attitude rises.
Great food and good prices, nice interior design/ look
The wait time was horrible! Ten minutes to get a menu, another ten to have our order taken, and then 30 minutes to get our food and the order was wrong! When we arrived, they were not that busy. It was just two of us, yet a family of six came in at least 15 minutes after us and were served and finished right after we got served. We only had burgers. Nothing time-consuming. Meat was dry and small. Looked frozen. French fries were not the same as before. Only good thing was the shakes.
Best chocolate cherry Cokes I ever had. Yummy Southwest burger
Fun atmosphere and music. The food has never been disappointing and the kitchen readily accommodated my special request. Service can be hit or miss depending on how crowded the restaurant is, but the staff is usual very nice. Food is prepared on order and thus, (obviously) takes some small amount of time to prepare. This isn't a "rush in, gobble up your food and run back out" place... Bring some friends and enjoy conversation and tasty food!
Cool ambience. Been here 15 minutes and just got our waters. Coffee is atrocious. Wait staff is friendly but overwhelmed. We'll see how the food is in another hour or so, I guess...
Solid burgers in a 50-60s themed dinner. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Stay for a shake to finish off the meal!
Great Food and atmosphere... 50's diner!
Great staff. Great food. The diner theme is gold!
Never had a bad experience! Service is always so great. They recently got a new menu and they now serve breakfast starting at 8:00am. Had the blue ribbon special and it was just what I was craving! Great service from Maritza.
I have heard the homemade desserts are amazing but I've ways been too full after one course so never got around to trying them. Sometimes the staff can be a bit huffy if you ask for anything to be substituted especially on the fry but they will do it.
Interesting selection.
I love this place!! Been coming here since I was a kid!!
Absolutely love this place...Had the best burger...I’ve ever had!! (The heartbreaker) Also had the best breakfast omelette that I’ve ever had too...It’s hard to believe all in one place....Sophia, Max and Maritza really make this place well worth the visit...You really can’t go wrong here!!!
The reason why this is 2 stars is that the staff really doesn’t care about you and the food takes forever to get to the table. And by the time it gets to your table your would’ve already waited almost an hour. Would not recommend at all.
There breakfast was very good. It was cooked perfectly and was delicious.
Max makes this place glow
Hot wings were delicious, but the size of the wings were ridiculously small. I put a quarter next to a hot wing and showed the waiter and he goes "awww you still working on that little guy?"
Haven't been here in several years but the food and service were both really good.
This place is really awesome the service was good and the vibe to the place is a nice 50’s/60’s sort of theme and I got a bacon cheese burger and that was one delicious burger! Milk shakes live up to my expectations and there for I rate this place a solid 5/5 would come again.
The staff is friendly but not friendly when it comes to mentioning upgrades and fees. Food was dry. Could barely get ice for my tea and when i did i received shaved ice on a separate cup which i had to dig out. Overall experience 1 star. They should lower their prices so that I could lower my expectations
AJ’s offers a good dining experience and good food. Real shakes and flavored sodas, crazy hamburger names keep the place feeling quintessential 50’s. The wait staff are kind and quick without being overbearing. Restrooms are a little cramped but for the most part it’s a great place to dine with friends and family. Prices are reasonable too.
Love the burgers, but im in love their wings...
DONT EAT HERE!!!!!! Me and my family went here to eat and my son ordered wings. The wings were raw and gross. When I told the waitress about it she said the owner had just stepped out. How convenient after we saw him 2min before we noticed the wings. He couldn't even come out and apologize. Not even the cook came to apologize. The cooks were to busy playing around in the kitchen. They weren't wearing hats, or gloves. One cook kept scratching his face and didnt even wash his hands after!!!!! All they did was offer us more wings. No refund, or anything!!! Very bad service and this place was gross. I've never been to a restaurant so bad like this one!!!!!!!!
I worked there for three days & then they never bothered to contact me ever again. After multiple attempts at trying to figure out why they never scheduled me I gave up. Please don’t support a restaurant who doesn’t pay they staff. It’s been months and I was never compensated. I worked there in July, it’s November now. Next step is to file a complaint with the BBB. The food is all frozen & I watched the guy in the kitchen try to sell over fried mozzarella sticks with no cheese inside.
Best diner in El Paso hands down. Get a shake, go ahead get one
I used to love the veggie sandwich here. I was so disappointed when I got my plate. What used to be a really nice sandwich with lettuce, tomato, sprouts, mushrooms, and avocado was instead just frozen grocery store-like mixed vegetables thrown in a bun. The potato soup used to be chunky with plenty of green chile, but this time it was just all blended and just okay. The fried mushroom appetizer was good but also tasted like it was made from the storebought frozen section of a grocery store.Very disappointed in how this restaurant has changed.
Love this place. Old 50s vibe and good food. Been going here off and on for 10 years.
Took like 40 min for 2 simple burgers and fries not to mention we were the first customers. Finally food arrives. My fries are all cold, my burger patty has no taste whatsoever. My drink is water down. This place is too crowded i was bumbing into every table. I saw this huge bug flying around, was disgusted. For a simple 2 burgers and fries and 2 shakes came out to 40 bucks. Wow! Outrageous! Will not recommend to any one.
Best place to eat.. family friendly and the staff is on point
Friendly staff, amazing Amazing food
Great atmosphere and service. But the food was only OK. I took my kids here during the summer looking for fun things to do. I would only go back to get milkshake as a treat. My kids LOVED it.
SOOOOOOO disappointed. I cried when I saw that the BB KING barbeque brisket sandwich was back 😂.... Then I cried because it was soooo bad 😭. Even the Chile con queso appetizer was watery n tasteless 😭 . The burger was so so. (Last visit I was served potato salad from Wal Mart cold food section😶 instead of their homemade one.) Unfortunately, we traveled to the West side from the faaaar East side n were greatly disappointed. Been loyal for 20 years, but too many owner changes n cooks r not familiar or change the recipes makes it really difficult to support AJs.😞
Had the mushroom swiss burger. It was delicious!!! Fries were also nice and crisp. The oreo cookie shake was plentyful and full of flavor. Would recommend this place to all, especially on Tuesday's since they have $5 burgers!
I love AJs. I’ve never had a bad experience here. I’m here now and our waitress is especially friendly and sweet. The food always hits the spot and never disappoints. And the shakes are to die for. It’s always a treat when we decide to come here for a meal. I will always be a customer and am forever impressed with the staff and overall experience.
Well served I highly recommended for new people to try this place ❤️
Great ambiance decent food. Great old time soda fountain!
Filled me up in no time. I think I might become a regular. Prices are decent.
Service treated us so nice. The place has a great feel to it.
I love the atmosphere and the food is pretty good. I feel the place does not get enough credit for being one of the last dinner style places in the region. Plus the staff are generally really good and kind.
Had so much fun when I came for a lunch break with some colleagues and friends. Pretty empty when I came but the service still great! I'm a sucker for anything vintage and so decor and music was a plus from the start and I heard about this place from my grandparents because they grew up with the original owner (not sure if it's the same or not). Great options from the menu and I love all the names for the burgers! And then of course, you absolutely have to get an ice cream float or shake! Takes me back to a time I never existed in yet can't help but feel nostalgic. Definitely coming back!
This place takes you back to the 50s where rock and roll was rolling with awesome decorations and has great shakes! I still need to try their burgers
Great service, good food and spotlessly clean
This place is a hidden gem in El Paso. I love going to eat here. Food is great. Music is good.
